Liberal Arts Research Center, Hansung University, aims to encourage scholars of humanities to communicate and collaborate with each other, to help them carry out researches into the fields of humanities and other related areas, and to disseminate the results produced by their research activities.
It also aims to foster the growth of each area of humanistic researches, i.e., literary studies, linguistics, history, and philosophy. More than anything else, it aims to secure the harmonious and balanced development of various fields of humanities on the whole by activating cooperative spirit among the scholars of humanities.
To attain these objectives, the Research Center has promoted various academic activities, the result of which has been published and made public extensively. Furthermore, the Institute has invited the distinguished national and international scholars for seminars and symposiums. And it has also helped professors and scholars working in the humanities colloquiums.
The Research Center also publishes a journal devoted to the study of humanities, Journal of Humanities, biannually. These publications are, we believe, of great help to fill the gap existing among fields of humanities and to contribute to the mutual understanding and interdisciplinary cooperation of scholars of humanities.
The Research Center also opened "A Pavilion of Korean Farming Life" in June 1991 and has collected ancient documents on this topic. It contributes to exhibit old document and various farming instruments of 250 points that are involved with supplying our culture.
This Research Center is established and operated next to the mountains and rivers and achieves the cooperation between each learning institution and specialized fields of research.
1. Research Institute of National Culture 2. EAST-ASIA Research Institute 3. Institute of Korean Language Information Processing
Establishing the phases of literate humaniores in modern society through such various learning activity, the Center is doing its best to deepen theories of literate humaniores, and applies the theories in actual practice and improves the quality of life for mankind. |
